Well, hello again!
Yes, I know, it has been many moons since I've posted here, and my excuses range the usual spectrum. Everything from major RL shifts (which equaled far less time in-world), to my typical capriciousness, to a real dearth of any products that were truly new and exciting in the realms of "SL After Dark".
Don't get me wrong, there are a few fun things sitting in my inventory just waiting for their moment in the sun, but, to kick off my renewed interest in this blog, I thought I'd celebrate with something really, really special.
There's a new kitty in town, and this is something I originally had mixed feelings about. As you can tell from my last post, so long ago, I was a big champion of the LadyLove Vagina, which had truly been the gold standard in SL lady-bits. But, with the advent of viewer 2 technology and all its graphical updates, the LadyLove just wasn't cutting the mustard anymore. I was having an impossible time color-matching at the join, and the act of simply wearing it between viewers/settings/machines pretty much guaranteed that, despite the time and attention I put into fitting and tinting, I'd never be satisfied. I went on a quest to seek out updated versions, only to find that the shop was gone, and the talented creators no longer seemed to be in-world anymore. Horrors! What's a girl to do?
Enter the VAW XTC v2.5 from another company that has been (very favorably!) mentioned here before, Virtual Artworks.
Now, I ain't gonna' lie; I stalked this kitty for probably a month before I finally pulled the trigger, because up until then, I had been shopping around, trying demos, particularly of mesh vaginas, and I was wildly unimpressed. So how, pray tell, is one to muster the faith to buy one that doesn't even offer a demo? Sure, they looked great in the advertisements, but, we all know what a slippery slope (ha!) that can be. Plus, my own prejudice is; No Demo = No Faith, and doesn't usually bode well for the integrity of a product. Well, I'm happy to report that all of my fears were, thankfully, unfounded. This thing is breathtaking. Really.
So, here we go with the pic-heavy review that will, hopefully, serve as a sort of substitute demo, and to illustrate how lovely, easy-to-match, and customizable the VAW XTC v2.5 really is.
First up, there are lots of nice options for customizing your bits, from grooming, to jewelry, to, of course, color. The tinting/coloring options available in the HUD are nice for getting a good "coat of primer", but if you care enough to add this detail to your av in the first place, well, then, you're probably the type to really get in there and hand-tint each selected aspect of it, which you can do with even bush-league (ha!) editing skills. I will say this, though; one of the presets offered for skin tone was an absolute home-run, so the only fiddling I even had to do was adding tint to the inner lips (because I like a pinker vulva) and to tint the pubic hair for that carpet-matches-the-drapes, fire-crotch thing. All told I probably could have spent no more than 10 minutes fitting and tinting to perfection, but I probably labored over it a bit longer because, well, I'm down with O.C.D... yeah you know me.
As usual, the pictures are very basically shot (on my laptop, which is not what it was six years ago when I got it), and totally un-retouched (because despite the O.C.D. I am selectively lazy), so what you see is truly what you get.
Here are the three pubic hair options available for the VAW XTC v2.5, as well as the option without:
Triangle |
Square |
Strip |
Shaved / Stage One (front) |
Now, seeing as we're looking at this pretty lil' pussy in its frontal glory in this last pic, let's take a look at the undercarriage, and have a peek at the other two "states" of openness available. First up, here's an under-shot of the 1st state:
Stage One (under) |
Stage Two (front) |
Stage Two (under) |
Stage Three (front) |
Stage Three (under) |
It's really not until things get hot-n-heavy and you're switching on the 2nd and 3rd states (or you're in a really lewd, exposing position, in which case, whee!) that anyone is even likely to notice, which is incredibly erotic. And even if you're not a dancer or an adult role player, this is an invaluable enhancement to have for "boudoir photography" and art nudes or whatever excuse you need to pretend that you're not going to attach this thing and then immediately strap yourself around your playmate's/partner's head like a scuba-diving mask. Whatevs!
There are so many more options available, and one worth noting is the clit ring. I am not a clit-ring/nipple-ring girl in SL, but, the VAW XTC's is kinda' seductive. While there is only one piercing available, it looke pretty nice and delicate, and it only takes a bit of dedicated tinting to get it to match a basic nipple-ring piercing available in most prim nips, like the Bina's I used in this shot (more on those later). So, here's what that looks like:

Another option available is the "creampie" option. I wasn't sure whether or not to add a shot of this in the review, but it looks pretty sexy, so I'm including it. Plus it overlaps nicely with a mention of the various "drip" options available. So, here comes your cream pie in the face...

Here's my reaction to the premier of "Shame", starring Michael Fassbender, on cable this morning. |
You can either enjoy the compressed intimacy SL affords by accepting a skillful fingering in lieu of a handshake, or you can laugh while someone vigorously tongue-fucks your knee, thus enjoying the compressed (and wacky) intimacy of SL. Either way, you can't really lose, and, let's be honest, you didn't really expect interactive features in your lady-junk anyway, did you? Okay then.
And last but not least, there is the matter of the HUD, which I forgot to photograph. Ugh! Suffice it to say it is small, unobtrusive, and relatively intuitive-on-the-fly with normal use, unless you switch and swap between things like pubic hair and piercings, then you might need to read the user manual. It's nothing a reader of this blog cannot handle.
In short; the VAW XTC v2.5 is a body mod I can recommend without reservation. There are no real gripes here, and the ones that are, are minor, and probably specific only to me. The bottom line is that this body-mod looks great, and if you are a dancer, an escort, an erotic photographer or a role-player that frequently finds themselves in compromising positions, this is an attachment that will add A LOT of extra "oomph!" to your avatar, thus cementing you in the minds of others. This is worth the small asking price. So go on and give it up for the VAW XTC v2.5. You will surely be glad you did.

ReplyDeleteI'm not totally satisfied, i REALLY cant find the perfect fit for my skin (it's not an exotic one, it's a League medium tan).
ReplyDeleteStaying with my xciting... for now.
To be continued.
SUCH a bummer, Riona, I'm sorry to hear it. The presets are generally pretty broad, color-wise, but I've managed to match a variety of skins dead-on with very little hand-tinting (which definitely *is* required for a solid match).
DeleteThat said, I look forward to the day that everyone gets on board with skin appliers. For errrythang! One-click, spot-on matching would be awesome.
Anything that doesn't move with the rigged mesh body is a non-starter for me. What the hell is wrong with having an anatomically correct mesh body?
ReplyDeleteAgreed, and, honestly, I've never really understood the puritanical denial of integrated, anatomically-correct genitals in SL.
DeleteAnd, whoever finally DOES release a reasonable, anatomically-correct mesh body with an accessible, user-friendly content-creator package can enjoy heretofore undreamed of success and a license to print unlimited lindens.
You would think the marketplace would be lousy with them, but, nobody yet?! Seems a waste!
